Social media’s premise is based on authenticity, transparency and relationship building. It is virtual dialogue between businesses and consumers, and when handled appropriately, can yield mutually beneficial results. However, for companies to effectively monetize their efforts and before deciding how best to implement a social media strategy, they should answer the basic question: “How will I be human?”

A company’s brand is only as good as its public perception. Just as some passersby walk along a trail and see beautiful wildflowers, another person may interpret them as weeds. It’s important employees understand their role in company branding and treat every interaction with the public as a relationship opportunity in building a positive, loyal customer base.
